[Press Association.]
„ DUNEDIN,'Feh. 22. The steamer Ulimaroa struck Quarantine Island when coming up the harbor on Saturday, and damaged several plates. She will probably be sent, to Lyttelton for clocking, and the Talune. will most" likely take up her running, leaving for Melbourne to-niglit. S.S. PUKAKI BREAKS DOWN. DUNEDIN, Feb. 21. Some anxiety was felt to-day at the non-arrival of the s.s. Manuka, which was due here about daylight. At a late hour to-night she arrived off the Heads with a vessel, supposed to be a steamer, in tow, and accompanied by the Waipori, which had been sent out to search for her. The vessels anchored outside the Heads, and will not come in until the morning. DUNEDIN, Feb. 22: . It was the disabled steamer Pulcaki which the Manuka had in tow, and which caused her to be overdue from Lyttelton. * Both vessels anchored outside the Heads all night. The Pukaki was a little this side, of Akaroa when two of the coupling ‘bolts broke. It was then about halfpast, four on Saturday afternoon. Had no more broken it would have been possible to have continued without assistance, but there was danger that the others, with the extra strain that would be put on them, would also break. Consequently the Manuka came along between 6 and 7, and the Pukaki was taken in tow and brought down to the Heads, at the rate of 7 or S knots, arriving at about 9.30. ■ She is now discharging her cargo from Westport. .
