The new. steamer is to be fashioned after the Marama. but will be somewhat larger. She will be a twin-screw vessel, with reciprocating engines, and should arrive in Sydney in October, 1910. The news is given, under the authority oi Sir James Mills, the company’s managing director,, by the Sydney “Mornirig Herald.” The Union Company’s new cargo steamer Kurow is reported to be making good progress toward.? completion; An exchange, reports that the Darlington Forge Company, of Manclies ter, England, lias secured the contract for the 160-ton stern frames and rudder brackets of the M hite Star Line’s new sea giants Olympic and Titanic, as well as for the immense rudders, weighing 100 tons each. These art the heaviest castings ever undertaken anywhere, and mark a long step forward in marine architecture.
