THE UNITED STATES. PROPOSAL TO DIVIDE THE.NAVY REJECTED BY CONGRESS. . United Prebs Association, Copyright (Received March 1, 10.35 p.in.) WASHINGTON, March 1. Congress has eliminated the amendment requiring President Roosevelt to divide the navy between tho Atlantic and the Pacific. President Roosevelt strongly opposed the proposal, because Russian and Japanese experience showed that division meant weakness.
