LICENSING COMMITTEE ELECTIONS.

ELEVEN NOMINATIONS RECEIVED. The annual election for members of the Licensing Committee takes place :>n the 9th inst. Up till Saturday afternoon only three nominations had been received—viz., Messrs G. E. Darton, J. Somervell, and M. McLeod; standing in the interests of the NoThree other candidates Avere proposed daring yesterday and, four minutes before the hour for the closing of nominations, 5 p.m.‘ yesterday, five additional names were receiA r ed by Mr. H. E. ‘Hill, Returnrng Officer, making a total of eleven. The complete list of candidates is uoav as folloAvs :—Dr. J. Clive Collins.' Messrs G. E. Darton, John Somervell, M. McLeod, -W. Lissant Clayton,; Alfred Dewing, Duncan Hepburn, Tliomas McConnell, George Watson Primrose, Forbes William Kiach, lan Simson Sinison.

The old committee consisted ot Messrs W. A. Barton S.M. (chairman), Darton, Somervell, Hepburn, Tombleson, and Hon. Captain Tucker. Of. this number the last two gentlemen, are not seeking re-election. The result of the nominations came, as a considerable surprise, as it was pretty generally understood that efforts Avere'. being made to have only the necessary number of .candidates pro-, sented, and thus to save the expense of an election. BAY OF PLENTY DISTRICT. Up to 3 p.m. yesterday tlm following nominations had been received foi the Bav of Pleutv licensing election :. Edward Clay, David Gardner, Everard Hannan Henderson, Charles Edmund Kusabs, Albert Michael Levis, -David Liuidon, Alexander Peebles, and 1 ercival Thom.
