POVERTY BAY CLUB

The second round of the races for the President’s trophy was commenced last evening, when two races were rowed. J. Stuart’s crew beat C. Winter’s by two feet, after a most exciting race, and another good race resulted when J. Webb’s crew met C. Somervell’s crew, the former winning by half-a-lcngth. The semi-final will be rowed this evening between the crew's stroked by J. Webb and B. Lowe, and the winner of this event meets J. Stuart’s crew to-morrow night in the final. TOLOGA BAY CLUB. [Special to “Times.”] The recently-formed Tologa Bay Rowing Club held their opening ceremony yesterday, which took the form of aquatic sports. The. weather was fine, and there was a satisfactory attendance of the public. A strong committee, with Mr. N. Nelson as secretary, worked energetically throughout the day. and their efforts were crowned with complete "success. The events were got off promptly to time, and not a hitch of any kind occurred. The following were the results: —- Model Yacht Race.—ll. Glover 1. Single Sculliug Race, rowed m heats —lst heat.: vG.- Jolly2nd Jieat: C. E. Smith. Final: G. Jolly. The winner secured a'; handsome trophy, donated by Dr. Weeks. '
