HOCKEY.

GISBORNE LADIES’ CLUB. The annual general meeting of the Gisborne Ladies’ Hockey Club was held in Townley’s Hall last evening, when a large number of members assembled to receive the report and balancesheet, prepared by the secretary, of the last season’s proceedings. The report outlined the games played by the club, showing that, on the wholo, they hail been fairly successful. The Wapiti Hockey Club has sent an invitation for a senior team to visit Hawke’s Bay to take part in the tournament to take place os June 3rd. This invitation will, in all probabiity, be acceded to when the club have had some practice, and it is seen of what strength the team is likely to be. Several trophies have been presented to the club, to be awarded during the coining season. ■Financially, the .club is in a flourishing condition, the credit balance of their account standing at £B. With the public support that was received last season, it is hoped to send a junior team on tour. For the coining season the following officers were elected: ■Patroniand Patroness, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Lysnar; president, Judge Jones : vicepresidents, Mesdames G. Busekc, Scott, R. N. Jones. W. Johnstone, Erskiue; Somervell, Messrs C. Buscke, E. N. Simpson, V. Hooper, J. Martin, F. Hair, McConnell, Revs. Cockerill and Chatterton, and Dr. Scott; captain, Miss Ethel Fromm; vicecaptain, Miss Merle Somervell; secretary and treasurer, Miss D. S. Osborne; coach, Mr. Olsen. v ; Nine new members were elecled. making the total membership 34. It was decided that the members, should practise on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday afternoons, at 3 o'clock.

The meeting closed with votes_ of appreciation' to the secretary (Miss Osborne), and to Messrs Olsen and J. Martin.. ■• . -
