quarterly sittings. The quarterly sitting of tli© Waiapu Licensing Committee was held vesterday morning. Present: Mr. W. A. Barton, S.M. (chairman), Messrs. J. Somervell and D. Hepburn. , Sergeant Hutton reported that the jtenduct of all the hotels in the boiVougli of Gisborne, with the exception of the Turanganui Hotel, Read s Ouav was satisfactory. The 'conduct of the Turanganui Hotel, the report stated, was not satisfactory. Drinking went on last election day during prohibited hours, and he did not think the present licensee a lit and pioper person to hold a license. Can - ton to Otto Hansen (Mr. Nolan); Tunaroa Hotel, from Edward Stokes to William IT. Skitch (Air Nolan). Leave of absence was granted' to Mr. J . Hollier, Bridge Hotel, Alatawhero (Air. Nolan).
