There was an oil- j tire absence of -wind, and good light favored the competitors, whoso only j troubles consisted of a slight mirage and great heat. Shortly before 10.30 I a.m. a rear-left wind sprang up, which \ subsequently freshened, changed direc- ! tion, and varied between five and tbir- j teen degrees right. The loop-hole match, which was concluded to-day, showed remarkable scores by Rifleman Mc-Leay, of Opaki. In the allowed time, one minute, he got the possible of ten bulls-eyes on a Bisley 800 yards tar- w* get. Colonel Somerville, formerly executive officer of the New Zealand R’A'* Association, was on a- visit to the grounds to-day.
