Mr. Asquith, -replying to a deputation, declared that the Government have not abated a jot of their determination regarding the Licensing Bill, and when the time came, and it could not be very far distant, when they joined issue and came into the open field,, there was. no measure regarding which they would appeal mere confidently to the people to decide between their elected representatives and an irresponsible -body ptha'fi the Licensing Bill.
