ADDICTION WORKSHOPS INQUIRY.
MR. RON AY YES EVIDENCE. 1 (P ress As pi ei a t : on.) CHRISTCHURCH. March 11. At the Addington workshops-inquiry to-day it was announced tlmt the end plovees would be represented' by Mr. H. J. Hampton, workshops painter. Evidence was given by Mr. T. Ronayne,' general manager of railways, who said that his letter to the mechanical engineer, containing the charges, was the;outcome of complaints made by an informant. where name he deel'.nod to. give. He had since caused inquiry to be- made, and was satisfied that there, was no ground for the complaint. The Hon. J. E. Jenkusson said that part of the charges in Mr. Rons file's letter were evidently based -on a Poiiversation he had with him. He niade a long statement regarding the work - at Addington, stating that the presentsystem prevented -good and economical results. Some of tin?' machinery, wastoo old, and the appliances were defc-c-A, lhe inquiry will be resumed to-mor-row.
