The annual meeting of the Tologa Bay Jockey Club was commenced on the Tologa Bay racecourse yesterday. The weather was wet, and the attendance was considerably spoilt thereby. The arrangements were most complete, a number of improvements having been carried out on the course. Mr. W. E. Holder, secretary to the club, was courteous and obliging to everybody. The Hauiti Brass Band played a programme of music in front of the grandstand, and Mr. J. Walker had charge of the catering arrangements. During the day £2044 was put through the totalisator. as against £2929 for the corresponding day last year. A number of bookmakers were licensed, and all did good business. The following were the results:—

McLeod .... 2 —Waioeka. 9.0 and* olbs over (J. Stewart) also started. From a good start Te Kainui took up the lead with Motokohu handy and Waioeka some distance away. The back of the course was reached in this order, where 'Waioeka pulled up. A good race then took place, Te Kainui winning by half a length, with Motokehu under the whip. Time, 3min 3&cc. Moonlight was the first to show out, but entering the straight Satiety and Romura moved up, Satiety reaching the post first by half a length. Time, 55 2-osec. From a struggling start, Sparrow Hawk being left at the post, Pearl Reef came to the front, closely attended by Caron, Alunga Alotio following a length away. This order was followed along the back of the course. C-aron then made an attempt to get on terms with the leader, but Pearl Reef drew away and won easily by a lengh, Munga Alotio two lengths away third. Sparrow Hawk was toiling along about twenty lengths away up the course and received ironical cheers 'on passing too stand. Time, lmin 22sec. From a good start Miss Rexer and Niwaru cut out the running, closely attended by Awamii. A good race ensued, Niwaru having a comparatively easy win by half a length from Miss Rexer., upon whom. Murray had the whip, Awanui a length away third. Time, lmin 38sec. DISTRICT RACE HANDICAP, of 50 sovs; second horse to receive 10 sovs from the stake. One mile. Air. AV. L. Puarakau had considerably the best of the start, and won easily by a length from Alura Alii, AVaipare .a length and a half away third. Time, 2min.

Paisano was badly bumped just after the start, but sooip moved up and led the field, with Gladsmuir the nearest in attendance a ’ couple of lengths away. Hinetitama put in a strong challenge, but Gladsmuir and Paisano were not to be denied, and easily drew away. An exciting racebetween the pair resulted in Gladsmuir winning by half, a length, Hinetitama two lengths away third. J. x-itzmaur-ice steered an erratic course on AVhakaweira, crossing twice, lime, inim 8 4-ssec.
