' The Iroquois Club, at Chicago, warmly cheered Mr. Dickinson’s explanation why he, a Democrat, joined the Republican Cabinet. He emphasised Mr. Taft’s affection for the South, and pointed out that the President was unable to eelect a Southern Republican without perpetuating hitter sectionalism, hence he magnanimously chose a Democrat, who had voted against him. Mr. Dickinson expressed a belief that the South approved of his acceptance of office.
