VISIT TO THE EAST COAST. The Hon.. A. T. Ngata on. Saturday supplied a* “Times” reporter with the following itinerary that has been arranged for the visit of Ills Excellency the Governor’s visit to the East Coast:— March 21 (Sunday).—His Excellency leaves by the Government steamer Tutanokai from the Napier breakwater at 7 p.m. direct for Tuparoa. March 22 (Monday).—His Excellency lands at Tuparoa at 9or 10 a.m. Reception by Waiapu County Council ami luncheon. In the afternoon his Excellency will drive to Matahiia, where the party will be the guests of Mr and Mrs K. S. Williams, Chairman of the Waiapu County Council. March 23 (Tuesday).—Leaving Matahiia by vehicle about 8.30 a.m., Iris Excellency will arrive at Waiomatatini at 11 a.m., where he will be formerly received by the Ngatiporou tribe. The preliminary proceedings will take the form of a war dane and lialcas of welcome. The vice-regal party will be quartered at- the residence of Mr Hen are Mah'uika, a nephew of the late Major Ropata Wahawailia. At 2 p.m. a visit will be paid to the Wait-omatatini school adjacent, and later in the afternoon the ►chiefs and representatives of the tribe will gather at the large carved meetinghouse, Porourangi, , and will formerly tender their addresses and a few speeches and appropriate songs. As, inter alia, the meeting is for the purpose of celebrating the renovation of this tribal runanga house, liis Exeellency. will be asked to declare it “duly open,” and to reply to the address. Tribal heirlooms, consisting of the swords of honor presented to the late Mokena Kohere, M.L.C., and Major Ropata Waliawaha, M.L.C., will be displayed for his Excellency’s inspection, and representatives of these loyal chiefs and warriors will, with his Excellency’s permission, be presented to him. Old soldiers who took part in the Hau-liau Avar and in the campaign against To Kooti will also be presented. If time permits the party will be taken to the top of Papatu hill, aboA r e the meetinghouse, to be shown a view of the Waiapu Valley. March 24 (Wedri^bday).—The vicorogal party will leave at 8.30 a.m., and drive to Rangitakia, where his Excellency Avill be asked to unveil the monument to- the late Mokena Kohere, M.L.C., -and to A’isit the Native school, the largest in the district, where there is a AA'orkshop and technical Avork is done. Light luncheon will be partaken of at Tikitiki school, «nd the party leaA'es for Te Araroa at 1 p.m., being due there at 5 o’clock. A reception will be held on- arrival, and an address presented prior to the party boarding the steamer that will be lying in Avaiting in the roadstead. If the programme is too heavy the visit to Rangitukia will be cancelled. March 25 (Thursday).—The party lands at Te Kalia- at 11 a.m. Presentation and the usual hakas of welcome will take place before luncheon. In the afternoon tlie party Avill be the guests of the Rev. and Mrs Paheu until returning to the steamer in the evening. March 26 (Friday).—Leai'e for Opotiki -or Ohnva, according to the tide. The programme, after arrival at either of these places, ■ will be entrusted to the local bodies. The Whakatoheo tribe Avill take part in the reception. March 27 (Saturday).—Leave Opotiki at 9 a.m., reaching Whalcatane at- neon. Reception by local County Council and NgatiAA r a- tribe. March 28 (Sunday).—At Wlia'kat-ane.
March 29 (Monday).—Leave at 8.30 -a.m. for Ruatokh, the capital kainga of the Ureivera country. March 30 (Tuesday)—Return to Whakatane, and either boat, or drive, or motor to Rotorua, via Te Telco.
