RUAKURA EXPERIMENTAL FARM.
A VISIT OF FARMERS. (Press Association.) HAMILTON, March 16. The official annual visit of farmers to the Ruaknra experimental farm took place to-day. Over three hundred persons were present, including the Hon. D. Buddo, Minister for Internal Affairs, who, in a speech, dealt generally with the value of such stations to those engaged in agricultural pursuits, stating that, in his opinion, "Waikato had a great future before it as a dairying and agricultural district. Referring to the financial stringency, Mr. Buddo said lie had seen slumps before, hut they had been gradually righted. He believed the present depression was not altogether an unmixed evil, as it would probably have the effect of causing business to be carried on on sound lines. -There was no reason to be downhearted about it. after the season’s splendid harvest and (the most extraordinary buoyancy of the butter market. .Frozen meat was low at the present time, but this might be through bad times in the Old Country. There was a good deal Of hope about the situation, as. after the returns had been worked off from other countries, the prospect would be better.
