CONTRADICTED BY GERMAN CON-
SUL-GENERAL,
United Press Association—Copyright
SYDNEY, March 16,
Dr Ivmer, Consul-General for Germany, characterises the cable that Germany intended to seize an island of tlie Pac-fic and transform it into a naval base as absurd. Ho points out that Britain, Germany, France and America have already appointed an administration in the Pacific. The Consul-Ge-neral added: ‘•'The scare comes as usual from an American source. A. section of the New York press seldom loses an opportunity of putting Australia against Germany. The reports are circulated for the purposes of irritation.”
