The “Novoe VroiTfya” reports that n tliusand Persian horsemen and 500 tribesmen, inarchipg on the Persian bank of the river Araxes towards Julfa, pillaged and burned ten villages, and •massacred ihe inhabitants. Many women, carrying children on their backs, were shot when attempting to swim the river to the Russian bank.
