AUTHORISING ORDER. . POLL TO BE TAKEN TO-DAY. A poll of ratepayers' in the Cook County will be taken between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. to-day upon the question as to- whether the Council shal' proceed to obtain an authorising -order to-morrow a sum of £30,000 to construct tramways from Patutahi to Gisborne and to To Arai. All ratepayers withing the special rating area of the County iare entitled to vote upon the question, and they may record one, two, or more votes according to their, valuation qualifications in each' and any riding in which they may own property. A majority of votes will give the Council power to proceed with the order. The polling booths (which have been advertised) are conveniently situated in each riding and all ratepayers are requested to go to the poll.
