RIFLE SHOOTING.

The Premier’s announcement that a sum of money would be provided to send a team of riflemen to compete at the great Australian championship meeting is one that may reasonably be supposed to coincide with the public wishes. The cost- of the venture will not be great and the despatch of selected men will give a decided stimulus to other marksmen to improve their skill. Any incentive in this direction is desirable, and if by the spending of a moderate amount of money a -fillip is given to the pastime, it is expenditure well justified. —“New -Zealand Times.”
