Mrs. Scandrett, wife cf the Mayor, has received from Mrs. Hlslc-p, wife of the Mayor of /Wellington, a suggestion for co-operation in the matter of the establishment of hospital beds in memory of the stewardesses of the Penguin. Mrs. Scandrett lias replied that in view cf the recent ho*uitaf collections, etc., the time Is hardly opportune for a subscription here for so similar an object. At the same time, she Is sympathetic towards the movement.
