MISS ADA WARD. (Received March 23, 9.55 p.m.) ; MELBOURNE, March 23. Miss Ada Ward, the actress’ and evangelist, will fill a nine months’ engagement with the Salvation Army. She antends at the end of the engagement to resume the theatrical profession. She declares she is not tired of evangelistic ■work, unit thinks she can do more good amongst the people she most desires to reach, the members of the profession she has never ceased to love. -y, . : A VICTORIAN TRAGEDY. A tragedy has occurred at North Brighton. William Jaoimes, his wile, and two children, aged respectively four years and two months, were found dead in bed. Holmes’ throat was cut, and the others’ heads battered in. The man had used a claw hammer to kill his family, and then committed • suicide. Holmes was-unahlc to obtain work, and was despondent.
