■MEETING OF DIRECTORS

A special meeting of the Board of Directors was held last evening, the president (Air. F. S. Alalcolm) presiding. A letter was received from Air. H. N. Holmes, general secretary of the AYellington Association, intimating that he would be unable to be present at the opening of the local Association’s rooms, but might possibly visit Gisborne after Easter. It was decided that the Red and Blue membership campaign should be concluded on Thursday, April Ist, by a mock banquet in AVhinray’s Hall, and that the official opening of tlie rooms should take place on the following Monday. The latter function will take the form of a citizens’ reception, and residents of the town will be invited to inspect the new rooms. Air. J. Dawson, the energetic captain of the “Blues,” was elected lion, secretarv and director, in place of Air. H. Ennor.

The constitution of the Association was submitted by the revising committee, and various amendments were, adopted, the most important being that the age qualification for membership was reduced from 18 to 16.

At a general meeting of members, at which Mr. J. R. Kirk presided, "the amended constitution was formally adopted, and a committee appointed to arrange for the membership rally and opening night functions. It was decided that the most suitable colors for the Association’s athletic clubs would be light and dark blue, with the Association’s badge, an inverted triangle. Reference was made to the departure of Mr. H. Ennor, who as lion, secretary and captain of the “Reds” has rendered invaluable service to the Association, and the chairman moved —“That this Association places oil record its appreciation of the great service rendered by Mr. Harold Ennor to the Association, both as bon. secretary and active member, and its sense of loss at bis removal, and conveys to him its hearty wishes for his future _ welfare.” The motion was carried with hearty acclamation, and Mr. Ennor made a brief response: Air. T. E. Toneycliffe reported that he recently visited the Association at Wellington, and was much impressed by the great work being done. A suggestion was made that a party of members should visit the railway works at Waikohu some Sunday .taking with them magazines and reading matter for distribution among the men, and holding a brief service at a central .spot. The general secretary has the arrangements for this in band.
