AMBULANCE WORK.
CORPS FORMED IX GISBORNE
Au enthusiastic meeting of those interested in the formation of an ambulance class- was held in the Drill Hall last night. Dr. Schumacher was elected to 'the chair.. and after Captain Beere had read out the regulation and requirements of an ambulance corps, the matter was discussed by those present, and the unanimous opinion expressed was that a corps should be formed as a separate unit. A committee w*is then elected as follows: Dr. Schumacher (chairman), Alessrs A. Thomson, Townley. Ferguson. Stephenson, Blakely. and Sergt. Oates. The minimum membership of an ambulance corps must be 27, as required by tlie regulations, and as 30 names were handed in to the committee last night the success of the corps may be taken as assured. .. B v to-dav’s mail formal application will' be made to the Defence Department for the necessary papers, and as soon as these are received and signed the committee will meet and make the necessary arrangements for ing on of the corps.
