(Messrs Common, Shelton and Co., loading agents.) 1 The R.M.S. Malwa is the seventh of ? the “M” class of passenger steamers recently built to the order of the P. and O. Company for the Australian mail service. In the general arrangements and furnishings she is a counterpart of the Morea, but in a few particulars she ■differs from the vessels which have preceded her. The Malwa, for instance. I .is 25ft longer than the Mooltan, -and | has 3ft more beam, and she is a little | longer than her sister ship, the Morea. •3 The Malwa, which was built by Messrs ; Barclay, Curie and Co., of Glasgow, is ! a twin-screw vessel of 11,000 tons resisj ter, and of 15,000 horse-power. The j, passenger accommodation,is all on or 1 above the main deck, therefore ports i a-arely need to be closed against intrud- | ling sea and spray. The saloons are ; elegant, the promenade and shelter j decks are wide, and afford abundant spaces. The dining saloon is situated forward on the spar deck, and extends through the. entire width of the ship, and has seating accommodation for 32 n passengers. Over the dining saloon is the music room, sumptuously furnished. Another attractive feature of this vessel is the “divan,” intended for the ■ use of, passengers of both sexes; differi ing from the music saloon in that it is '.i available for smokers. The smoking i saloon, panelled in fumed oak, is situI a ted on the after part of the promenade deck, and the Malwa has been equipped with an electric laundry.
