Mr. S. N. Ziman, last wear’s Rhodes scholar from New Zealand, has won. an honoraiy scholarship in mathematics. Being’a Rhodes scholar, he was not entitled to a cash scholarship. Mr. Ziman has taken on rowing, and is pulling for his college, Balliol. Balliol 1123 two teams and Mr. Ziman is a member v of tlie B crew. He is also treasurer of the College Club. Sir George Clifford,, at the an ami meeting of the South Island Sheep - breeders’ Association, last week, expressed regret at the retirement of Mr. M. Murphy from the position of secretary to the Association, a position held bv him for the past fourteen, years. Sir George doubted «bother the members realised the aiinuut of work and anxiety which was thrown ■cu the secretary of the Association. Beanies, who injured his left hand last week, has had to havoa: finger amputated. The members of St. Andrew’s Choir met on Friday evening to bid good-bye '• Miss Ruby Churcn, who is to bo married at an early date. Tlie evening took the form of a social, and the conductor of the -choir, Mr. A. T. Hookey, presented Miss Church, on behalf of the choir, with a handsome teapot suitably inscribed. The Rev. W. Grant; also spoke of Miss Church’s services to the choir, a lilt'wished her happiness in her new life. The remainder of the evening was occupied with meric and games.
