The section of the Gisborne-Rotorua, railway from Pulia to the new Waikolm station will be opened for traffic* on Thursday. Up to yesterday the sta-tion-master at Gisborne (Mr Day) had not received any intimation from Wellington of any official opening. The new soctiou is a very marked advance in the construction of the line, as it carries Motu and Rakauroa passengers over the bridge at Willows Crossing, and will henceforth do away with tho necessity for the coaches to cross' tho river. The new bridge is available for* vehicular as welL as railway traffic, and will be a great boon to the settlers, as it obviates all necessity to ford tho river while in flood.
