STEADY RAIN
The light urizzling showers which commenced to fall on Sunaav nighicrrew heavier towards morning, and alt dav yesterday steady rain noured down without cessation. The channels in Gladstone :• Road were banked up to the footpath, and in the holes in the metai the water lodged in pools, and mud was thick everywhere. Some of the drains in outlying streets were in danger of flooding ow- ; in<v to the dense growth of weeds. Late last night here was a cessation of the rain. .. , - . if: i Reports from the country district state that the rain is general. Messrs yJ. Redstone and Son’s coaches cached Morere safely -last night, but as the Nuliaka River is running high, Mr. Redstone considers at improbable that the Morere coach will try and reach Wairoa to-day, as Stewart s Ciossmg: is sure to be dangerous The coaches reached Tologa from both Gisborne and Waipivo Ray safely.
