PRESENTATION.
MR. E. H. FEATON
Mr. E. H. Foaton, who has boon em-ployed-in the Survey Department since thirtv-fivc years ago, and has been connected with the office at Gisborne ever •since its establishment, retired from the office, under the age limit, yesterday. Just before the members of the staff separated for the day. they met m the room of the District Surveyor and Land Officer (Mr. Brodriek), who, on their behalf, made a farewell presentation to Mr. Featon, and spoke in.highly complimentary terms of his ability, hts genial and kindly disposition, and Jvs popularity with his fellow officers. He remarked that Me. Featon had had a very interesting career, and expressed the hope, that he would put some <>f his experiences in writing for the information of his friends: He wished Mr. Foaton happiness and success- ju the future, and presented him with a. handsome silver inkstand and a- pair of field glasses. Mr. Clare, chief dr.augatsm in. Clo<riscd for the absence of Messrs Bod-lick and Farnie, who are engaged in the field. He endorsed the remarks of Mr. Brodriek in regard to :ur. Featon. • Mr. Robertson', Crown Lands Ranger, spoke to similar effect. Mr. Foaton thanked his brother olneers for tlioir kind expressions of good will and for their handsome presort,!:, 'which, he said, would over remind "him of his friends in the office, from v, Imm. be had always- received the at., ost kindness.. __
