RETIREMENT OF CIVIL SERVANTS.

REACHED THE AGE LIMIT. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, April 1. Mr W. T. Glasgow, secretary and inspector, to the Customs Department, retired from the service yesterday, after 471 years’ service. He will shortly take a trip to England. He was presented with a number of presents subscribed by officers of the Department throughout the Dominion. It is understood that Mr R. Carter, now collector of Customs at Wellington; succeeds Air Glasgow, Mr F. J. M. W. AValmsley, Deputy Commissioner of Taxes, retired yesterday on superannuation, after 30 years’ service. He was presented by Air P. Heves, Commissioner, on behalf of the staff, with an .illuminated address. TIMARU, April 1. Air C. A. AVray, S.AL, presided at the last sitting of the. Court yesterday, prior to retiring under the Civil Servants Act. There was a large attendance of Justices and members of the Bar. Mr J. W.. AVli ite, senior counsel, and others delivered farewell addresses, and Air AVray feelingly replied. He very much regretted having to .ret?re. The Court officials and police presented ),. Wray with a gold-mounted umbrella. There is no word as to his successor.
