WAIHI GOLD MINES. [Per Press Association.] WAIHI, April 1. The AVailii mine, which ranks as one of the greatest goldmining propositions in the world, having produced in the past eighteen years nearly seven and alialf million sterling, and paid to shareholders over three million sterling, is ao-ain entering upon interesting stage of development bv the opening up of its number 10 level, atm depth of 1000 ft. Consistent with the developments of the upper levels, the results ot operations at the moment of writing are most satisfactory, the exploitation showing the two reefs, the Royal and the Empire, of the series of sixteen met with in the higher levels, to be of equal'strength and value, the present tendency indicating even an lmproven> The adjoining, property, the Grand Junction, situated but a stone s throw from the main workings ot the A\ ailu mine, is also now entering upon an important stage of development m open-: ino- up its number o level at practically the same depth (100611) as the A' ailn mine. Cross-cuts to the west and east Horn the bottom of the shaft, No. o kv el, are being prosecuted to intersect the well-known Martha reef, and . No. ~ lode, already being exploited m the upper levels, and to the east the Lm h-cbml the Itoyal. 1.. the meantime, three winzes from the- number 4 Up el are being sunk on the Empire and one winze on the Royal. The rosults ot these onerations have disclosed grade mineral ore, upwardsj of £9, -extending over the lull width ot t o winzes. The enhanced value of the Empire and Royal reefs in depth point to valuable disclosures beitig met with, at number 5 level. -
