GISBORNE CITY BAND.

PRESENTATION TO 311!. H. PIPER. A very pleasant ceremony took place in the City Band room last evening, when the bandsmen met to say farewell to Mr. Harold Piper, honorary member of the Band, who is leaving on a trip to England by to-morrow’s boat. The Conductor (Mr. H. E. Lawrence), in presenting Mr. Piper with an enlarged photograph of the Band, as a slight token for the services rendered by him at the Hastings band contest, spoke of his good qualities, and on behalf of the bandsmen wished him a safe passage and a quick return. Mr. W. Miller, on behalf of the solo- \ ... ists, presented Mr. Piper with a silvermounted walking stick, suitably engrav-. ed, and thanked him for his services as pianisfi to them at the contest. Mr. Piper briefly and suitably replied.
