PROFESSOR DAVID AT SYDNEY.
ENHUSIASTIC RECEPTION 1 . ' THE PROFESSOR CROWDED OUT. ■ United Press Association—Copyright. SYDNEY, April 2. A great citizens’ meeting was held to welcome Professor David. The doors of the Town .Hall were closed early to prevent overcrowding. Professor David was locked out. He was unable to gain •entrance, for half an hour, and the Federal Attorney-General only’ forced his way through on the back of an alderman. Hundreds were unable- to -gain admission. Professor David, in the course of a speech, said it was almost as difficult io get into the gathering as it was to work their way to the magnetic pole. In this connection he wished to say, with great emphasis, that the magnetic pole was not discovered and was not located by him, but by Air Mawson. He laid stress on the fact that during the four months’ journey the party had not one drop of* alcohol. On one occasion, a birthday celebration, they had just a little wine, but found their resistance to the cold dropped, so they ' dropped the alcohol.
