BERLIN, April 3
Replying in the Reichstag to critics who complained that the Government had refused to issue arms to German settlers in Samoa, Herr Dernburg; Secretary of State lor the Colonies, stated that-the natives must he treated with firmness and mercy, but with ,jusri tice. England and America, had found the natives a tough morsel. 7iie nativers now regarded themsevlos as under Germany’s protection, and he was confident that, the Government would soon be in full control of the situation.
