RIFLE SHOOTING.

POVERTY BAY RIFLE ASSOCIATION. A competition was held under the auspices" of the Poverty Bay Rifle Association at the Kaiti range on Saturday. There were- about 20 competitors, and some good shooting took place. There was a series of four matches at 500 and 600 yards, two at each range, slow firing and quick firing alternately. The following were the. results:— Slow firing, 500yds, 5 rounds—Private Caiman 23, Captain Beere 23, Corporal McGuffie 21, lieutenant Somervell 21. Sergeant Bait 20. Rapid firing, 500yds, 5 rounds.— Captain Beer© 20, Private Kingston 19, Sergeant Bait 19, Lieutenant Somervell 18, Rifleman Sadler 17. Slow firing. 600yds, 5 rounds. —Corporal Righam 24, Private Kingston 19, Sergeant" Bait 18, Captain Evans 18, Captain Beere 17. Rapid firing, 600yds, 5 rounds.— Captain Beere 21, Cadet Wallace 17, Private Caiman 15, Leutonant Somervell 15, Private Hay 14. • _ Cash prizes, one of 10s. two of ss, and two of 2s 6d were given for each match, and the total wins were:—Cai>taiu Beere 17*> Gd, Private Caimau 13s 9d, Captain Evans 12s 6d, Sergeant Bait 12s Gd.
