SALMON OVA. [Per Press Association .] DUNEDIN, April 5. Mr Arson, Inspector of Fisheries, arrived from London by the Rakaia this morning.He brought with him hair a million Atlantic salmon ora, which arrived in good condition. They will be forwarded to Lake Te Anau. A similai quantity was brought out by the Tura--lcina a few weeks ago for liberation in the same locality. HEAVY RAIN IN GORE. GORE, April 5. The rainfall last night was 1.69 inches, the heaviest fall ever recorded at Gore for one day. It was accompanied by a heavy gale, but no serious damage was reported. GUMDIGGER-S’ CONFERENCE. AUCKLAND, April 5. The Gumdiggers’ Conference lias passed a series or resolution urging further restrictions, on aliens, stricter supervision of the 'issue of naturalisatin papers, and the granting of worked-out gum lands to gumdiggers on easy conditions'. MRS 0. P. DONNELLY SERIOUSLY ILL. HASTINGS, April 5. Mrs. G. P. Donnelly, who has been seriously ill for some time, is in a most critical state. She, however, spent a very peaceful and quiet night. CHRISTCHURCiT NEWS. CHRISTCHURCH, April 5. The Inspector of Factories informed a reporter, in reply to a question, that a number of slaughtermen have not availed themselves of the opportunities offered them to nay in instalments the hues inflicted two years ago tor striking. In these circumstances, probably- an order for attachment of their wages would be applied for shortly. It is stated that there is no possibility of the. parties to the general laborers’ dispute effecting a settlement through the Conciliation Council. The Council will probably hold a formal sitting in Christchurch, and refer the dispute to the Court. . ‘ yj r W H. Triggs has resigned the editors!'ip of the. Press in consequence of a disagreement with The Board .of Directors as to the representation ot Chnstchurch at the imperial Press Conference.
