VISIT OF THE AMERICAN FLEET.

THANKS FROM PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, April 6. The Prime Minister lias received from President Roosevelt the following letter in acknowledgement of the several mementos of the American fleet's visit to New Zealand:— “Through Admiral Sperry I have received the beautiful illustrated address to the PretSident sent by you as Prime Minister and by the officials of the New Zealand Government. I have at tlio same time received a beautiful album of New Zealand views, and a Maori cloak presented by Lady Ward on behalf of the it embers of the Ar&wa t ribe. I to express to you, and through you to your colleagues, and especially to _ Lacy Ward, *ny very profound appreciation of the courtesy shown me, and, above all desire to give expression of the appreciation of the entire American people for the generous courtesy and hospitality with which the people ot New Zealand received the American fleet. Prav toll Lady Ward we shall always keep, the beautiful Maori cloak and album of New Zealand views. Ma\ I bo<r that you will express to your colleagues my thanks for the more than kiudlv warmth of their greeting to me. Most’certainly, if fortune favors me, 1 shall some dav visit New Zealand. i have always felt a particular desire to see Now Zealand, not only because ot the natural beauty of the islands, but because like all men interested m social and industrial problems. I am very decirons of looking into the way in which von in New Zealand have faced the question of their solution.”
