SUCCESS FOR BRITISH CONTRACTORS.
A LARGE RAILWAY CONTRACT. ENGLISH TENDER' 4 PER CENT. LOWER THAN GERMAN. 'United Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, April 7. The firm of Sir John Jackson, Ltd/, has secured the contract for the AricaLapaz railway across the Andes, costing £3,000,000 sterling. The railway crosses the Andes at an altitude of 12,000 feet. Sir John Jackson expects to finish it in lour years. A German firm, backed by ihc Deutsche Bank, competed for the •contract. The English firm’s tender was four per cent lower.
