BOWLING.
GISBORNE CLUB. The following are the results of the games played on the Gisborne green during this week:— District Shield Match- —Haiti: Kyme, F. W. Pettie, Ambridge, Eure (skip) 23, beat West End; Barry, H. Miller, E. Lewis, Gaudin (skip) 19. Gaudin had the lead in the early part of the game, and on the ninth head had scored 12 to*Eure’s 8. On the tenth head the Kaiti representatives got in seven points, making their si-ore 15 and giving them a lead, which they retained throughout the game. Martin Medals (Handicap Fours). — Kyme, R. T. Seymour, Mackintosh, Eure (skip) (4) 22 beat Paltridge (sub), H. Miller. F. W. Pettie, Hookey (skip) (4> 19. The game was a veryjeven one. Eure 'got in four on the 17th head, and led throughout the remainder of the play. In this competition Simson’s link has to play Corson’s, and Robertson’s will meet F. A. Martin’s. The winners will play in. the seim-hnal with Eure, one rink receiving a bye. A number of practice games were also played. On Monday the green will be ready for play at 10 a.m. Ths district slneid matches will be continued. Afternoon tea is to be provided, and all bowlers and their lady friends arc invited to be present. TURANGANUI CLUB. A full day’s play was indulged in yesterday -at the Turnnganui green, when the members of the club took every advantage of the holiday. The green was running very keen, but a ugh, gusty, westerly wind made play tricky at times. Gaines were commenced at 10 a.m., and after the luncheon interval play was resumed at 2 p.m. and continued until dusk. Amongst the games played was one in the first round of the Handicap Singles, and also the semi-final in the Colts Singles. Afternoon tea was provided by Mrs. H. Anderson, who was assisted bv -Miss Birrell .the refreshments being much appreciated. The following were the results of the match games: Handicap Singles.—A. Sawyer (26) beat J. Colley (9).—ln this game Colley was clean off, Sawyer being 11 to 5 on the Bth bead, and winning easily by h points. „ Colts’ Singles.—T. Thelwall (10) 23 beat J. Somervell (2) 21.—Thelwall scored first, but on the 6th head Somervell had an advantage of 6 points, being 8 to 2. On the 10th head, however, Thelwall had evened matters up.8 all. Somervell on reaching the 16th head bad 16. to his credit to Thclwall’s 2 and keeping it up finished 21 to Thelwall’s 15. The latter, however, won the grime, for his handicap of 8 points secured -h;m the victory by 23 to 21, having two of a margin. By thus winning the semi-final, Thelwall enters the final, when his opponent will be A. Skillicorn. A .special meeting of the club is to be held on Monday evening, April 19th, at the Royal Hotel, at 8 o’clock when a motion to alter the date of the annual meeting of the club will be considered.
