THE REPRESENTATIVE TEAM. flic selectors. Alessrs R. G. Hallamore, J. H. AYack, and H. E. Maude, met on Saturday evening, and selected t!ie team to represent the Poverty Bay Cricket Association against the Auckland team in the representative match to-day and to-morrow. The team is a good all-round combination, and is about the strongest that has ever represented the 'district. The following critique on the individual members of the team arc supplied by "Short-Slip,” the "Times” cricket scribe:— R. Adamson (Wanderers). —A lefthand bowler of medium pace with a disconcerting swerve, and a batsman of the happy-go-lucky style who is not at all iron bled by nerves. A. R. Barker (United).—A promising young colt, who is -a recent arrival in the district. Learned his cricket at the Blenheim High School. Bowls a righthand medium pace ball, with a nippy off-break. A fair batsman, and a good field. J. A. Bowman (United). —The wicketkeeper of the team, in which position lie has few .superiors in the Dominion. A quick-scoring batsman, who is particularly strong on the off-side. H. Babbs (Wanderers). —An imperturbable batsman with the patience of Quaife and Alick Banuerman rolled into one. A useful medium-pace bowler, and a fair field.
AY. A. J. Gibson (United). —A sound batsman, .who has put up some good scores this season, including a century at Napier at Christmas time. A good slip and outfield. J. A. Gibson (United). —A batsaaan with sound defence and a good variety ot strokes. A brilliant field in any position and can also keep wickets. Has not had any opportunity of getting practice this season, but deserves his place. R. G. Hullamore (United).—A vigorous batsman, who is especially good at pulling and late-cutting. Bowls a dangerous ball, with a break from both sides, but has not too good a command of length. A first-class wicket-keeper. C. Lasker (Wanderers). —The Jesspp of the team. A brilliant field in any position, with a safe pair of hands and a quick return J, Moore (To Ran). —A sound defensive batsman, who has scored a lot of runs this season. A useful change bowler, and a good field. E. Sharpies (Taruhoru). —An ox-A orkshireman. who handles his bat styllsnly. and bowls a good fast ball. A brilliant field. AY. H. AYack (To Ran).—A mediumpace bowler, who keeps a fine length, and turn;? them from tTie off. A rapidscoring batsman, who has made many good scores this -reason. A capital field. A great deal of interest attaches to the match commencing to-day. as it is recognised as the real to>t of strength between the strong Auckland Povertv Bay. Play commences at 10 a.m. Messrs R. Thelwall and AA\ E. (loffe will be the umpires.
