A MAINTENANCE CASE. [Pf.r Press Association.] AUCKLAND, April 13. In the Police Court, Percy E. Tapp and Jolm P. Bathgate, the latter formerly a Presbyterian home missioner at Hclensville, were charged Avitii using threatening language at Remuera. According to the statement of Detective McMah on, Tapp had received great provocation. Tapp, in Court, accused Bathgate of having ruined his sister. He ami another brother found Bathgate with their sister, and were holding him avliou the detective arrived. Bathgate in Court admitted that Tapp had had groat provocation. The Bench bound both accused to keep the peace. Bathgate was then charged with having failed to maintain his illegitimate child. Ho admitted parentage, and was ordered to pay 7s 6d per Aveek and £ll expenses. Bathgate stated that he had a wife and three children, but agreed Repay if given time. The business of the session opened today. FISHING INDUSTRY—'TROUBLE AT NAPIER. NAPIER, April 13. Trouble has occurred in the fishing, industry owing to the men engaged on trawlers notifying employers that they desired to be paid wages instead of Avorking on the share system. The recent award of the Arbitration Courtadopted the wages system, but stated the men could continue to work on the share system if they desired. At a meeting of the men it was decided not to continue on shares, and as the owners of trawlers consider it impossible in the present vtnto of the industry to pnv wages, seven of the trawlers are now idle. Three others are worked on wages, and the system has not affected them.
