SCULLING.
The “Wanganui Chronicle” says: “We have but little doubt that Arnst will be only too willing to accept Webb’s challenge,"but such acceptance will almost certainly prevent liis visiting Canada and England this year. As ho had intended to compete for tho Nugget Polish Co.’s £SOO prize on the Thames, and as Barry had offered him £l-50 expenses for a match, the monetary sacrifice may he considerable, but unless Barry’s or Durnan’s deposit has already been paid to some reputable person, ho cannot but accept the local man’s challenge. Speculation will be rife as to where the proposed match will eventuate, but as Arnst has the choice of selection-, the public must look to the champion for information in this respect. Arnst was very much impressed with the suitability of the course the last race was rowed over, hut as ho said when- here, “I will .go where the most money is to be obtained,” it is not improbable that he will insist that the race be rowed in Australia.”
