THE TIMARU FIRE.

TIMARU, April 14. An inquiry into the fire at the Farmers’ Co-operative Association’s buildings was held, by direction, to-day. Nothing definite was elicited, except that every care had been taken to extinguish all lights employed. The cleaner and caretaker saw the lasi workers out, and went round alter them. It was suggested that fire had _ been thrown in through a broken window, but this was on the ground floor, and other evidence showed that the fire commenced on the third floor. A wituk6 considered that the fire was not hi accident. 'The directors decided to offer a reward of £SO for information as to the origin of the fire, and a reward of £2OO for the. conviction of the incendiary. This is the fourth nrc and the third heavy loss the Farmers’ operative Association has had- me whole of the Geraldine store and two retail stores at Timaru have been destroyed. "
