Mr. M assey, Leader of the Opposition. stated yesterday that- he considered the mortgage tax should be doim a wav with. It tended to make inonev dearer to the borrower, ami not onv that, but it had the effect of preventing money from being sent to the. country for investment. " 1 Iwivo often wondered,” lie added, “that business men took this matter so quietly, and I am glad to see attention is at last being called to it.”
