There was >a very large attendance on Saturday night in the Ormond Hall at the smoke concert, which proved a fitting finale to the trials. Mr. E. AY. Bousfield, in the absence of the President, presided. After the toast of “Tho King” had been loyally honored, Mr. P. Dolbel •proposed the toast of “The Poverty Bay Sheep Dog Trial Club.” As one who was closely connected with the Hawke’s Bay Central Trial Club, lie said he had watched the Poverty Bay trials with interest. Excellent work had been done, and the standard was well tm to that of other centres. He hoped to see a good number of Poverty Bay competitors' - at the Hawke’s Bay meetings. He desired to snake acknowledgement of the unbounded hospitality he had received since arriving in the district. Ho wished to offer a gold medal to the Poverty Bay Club, to be allotted as the committee might decide. .(Prolonged applause.) The toast having been honored. Hie chairman responded, -and expressed tho pleasure of the dub -at’ the

Messrs P. Dolbel (Taradale) P. G. L. Mackenzio (Dannevirke),, and F. Beecham (Taihape) at the meeting. Air. F. McKenzie proposed the toast of “Tho Judge,” and paid a high tribute to the satisfaction given by Mr. O, W. Davis. Every member of the club, he said, hoped to see Air. Davis appointed again next year. The toast was drunk with -all hon)rs and Mr. Davis, in responding, thanked the club for the honor it had conferred upon him in appointing him judge lor a second time. The work done at the trials, ho said, had compared favorably with that seen at tho other trims ho had attended this year. In Class i. Hie work had not been too good, but ho had noticed that none of the competitors did good work in this class at any of tile trials this year. He miggW-ed a conference of delegates from cnibs inorder that the dates arranged might not clash one with the other. For instance, lie said, the present meeting clashed with that at Mohaka. If tho meetings did not clash, the best men from the other districts would be enabled to compete at' the local trials. He had been endeavoring to arrange for a uniform arrangement of dates for the past six or seven years. He would like to see a conference arranged in Napier at Show time, as he considered many of the members might be visiting Napier about that time. He thanked the officials and members of the club for the hospitality extended to the. visitors. '' Other toasts were: “The Visitors.” proposed by Mr. Davis, and responded to bv Alessrs P. Dolbel (Taradale), P G. L. Mackenaie. (Dannevirke) and It. Beecham (Taihape); * The Officials,'' proposed by Air. A\'. A. J. Gibson, and responded to by Alessrs A. AlcKenzio, A. Burch, and W. E. Astin ; “Air. Con. Neenan,”, proposed by Mr. R. Beecham, and responded to by Alt. Neenan; ‘‘The Ladies,” proposed by Air. P. G. L. Mackenzie, and responded to by Air. A. Devery; “The Press,” proposed by Air. TL J. Herbert, Heron, H. J. Rougher, Jones, AY. A. y J. Gibson, A. Burch, Srnale, and AY. E. Astin.
