THE BAKERS’ DISPUTE. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, April 19. The Arbitration Court sat today in a bakers’ dispute affecting Waikato, 'Poverty Bay, and country districts. The workers sought one award applicable to the whole of the northern district. Judge Sim directed a conference to be held before Air. Giles, Conciliation Commissioner, the result to be reported next Monday. / THE SHIPMASTERS’ AND SEAMEN’S DISPUTE. • At the Arbitration Court, in the matter of the. shipmasters’ and seamen’s dispute, it was stated that an agreement had been arrived at on all points except, the wages'-paid to intercolonial sailors, and the wages and overtime payable in the Do von port Ferry Company’s service. There were also two points of law to lie argued. One was how far an award could be made to apply to vessels owned in New Zealand, but registered in Australia. The other was how far an award could be made to apply to a master who was part owner, but who received wages against the co-owners. The ease was adjourned to Wednesday. HOTEL AND RESTAURANT EMPLOYEES’ DISPUTE. Regarding the hotel and retaurnnt employees’, dispute, Judge Sim, addressing Mi. Long, who had declined to submit evidence before the Conciliation Commissioners, said if they did not finally and honestly comply with the provisions of the law, they won't! not be entitled, to its benefits.. They did not give the Conciliation Council a chance to settle the dispute. The question was whether the case should not be sent back to the Council. Air. Long replied that if this were done the case would only come hack to tlio Court. His Honor reserved his decision on the
