TURANGANUICLUB
A match was played on the green of the Turanganui Club yesterday afternoon between rinks representing the club and the press. The result was a victory for the former by a single point. The following were the players and scores: —-Turanganui: Zacliariali, McConnell, Ratclilfe, J. J. Martin (skip) 25. Press: F. Farrell, 01. G. Nasmith, junr., A. J. Benzie, T. Clarkson (skip) 24.—1 n the early part of the game play was all in favor of the press representatives, who, on the 9tli head, had scored 12 to their opponents’. 4. The latter, however, got in 6 on the 10th head, and on the 14th had a marvellous piece of good fortune, Ratciiffe carrying the iaok and leaving his side with every bowl. "in,” thus scoring 8 points, and making the totals, Turangantii 21, Press 14. On the 18tli head matters looked even worse for the Press, for their opponents had scored 25 to 17. The next head, however, resulted in the pressmen scoring five. They made a single on each of the two last heads, and thus finished one point- behind Turanganui. The Press scored on 14 heads, while Turanganui scored on 7. INTER-CLUB MATCH. The final match between the Gisborne and Turanganui Clubs will take place on the latter’s green this -afternoon. Players are requested to be on the ground’ at 1.30 sharp. It is anticipated there will be a large number of spectators, and afternoon tea ; is to be provided.
