THE FUNERAL.

The interment of the remains o“ the late Mr. Sievwright took place yesterday afternoon in the Makaraka cemetery. There was a large and representative attendance, including the Mayor (Mr. W. D. Lysnar). Mr. J. Townley, Mr. AY. A. Barton, S.M., members of the legal profession, the public service, and ai goodly number of the general public. The cortege left the deceased’s gentleman’s late residence in AYliataupoko, and proceeded via the Roebuck Road bridge and Gladstone Road to the cemetery. Here were gathered another fair number of old friends of the deceased, including many ladies, awaiting the coining of the sad procession. The service at the graveside was very brief, and was conducted bv Aliss Siov,wight, daughter of the deceased, who simply read a portion of the usual burial service of the Church) of England and repeated the Lord’s Prayer. After these few lines had been read, those present, led by Air. E. N. Sidebottom, joined in the singing of tlic hymn ‘‘Lead Kindly Light,'’ and the ceremony was at an end. Ino pallbearers were Messrs AV_. A. Barton, S.M., John Townley, E. N. Sidcbottom, Adams, AlcLaurin, J. R. Kirk, and B. Scott, and the coffin, which was of polished rimu, with carvings, was covered with a profusion of wreaths and floral emblems.
