THE LATE MR. SIEVWRICHT

\ TRILUTE FROM THE HARBOR. BOARD.

Prior to the business being commenced at the special meeting of the Harr Board yesterday afternoon, tho chairman (Mr. John Xownley) reierred to the loss sustained by the Board by the death of Mr. Wm. Sievwright, whom he regarded as one of the _ best and most earnest workers they had had. The best interests of the place had always been put first by their late member, and ho had been a most active worker, beloved and respected by everyone. Mr. Sievwright had been called away, and while deploring his loss, they would miss him greatly for his earnest advocacy of works of improvement. He (the chairman) would move that a letter of condolence from the Board be sent to the daughter of tho deceased gentleman. Hon. Captain Tucker said that it was not necessarv to say a great deal morothan had been said by the chairman. Mr. Sievwright had always been held in the highest estimation, and no more upright and conscientious gentleman, who always fiilfillled his duty as it appeared to' him, ever stood in shoe leather. Whether he was right or wrong* did not matter a jot, and it was with feelings of tho deepest regret that he (tho speaker) seconded the chairman s motion. .... Mr. W. D. Lysnar said he wished to also pa v a tribute to the memory or their deceased colleague. It had been a pleasure to sit with Mr. Sievwright On the Beard, as he was a man who, While he had his objections, had a 1 wavs sound logic 1 reasons for them.
