NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS

AUCKLAND, April 23. - At a meeting of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association, heal! this evening, it was decided to accept the offer of the New Zealand Association to hold the next New Zealand championships in Auckland, the dates fixed being Boxing Day and succeeding days.

The tennis championship meeting was continued in fine weather. The matches between the New Zealand and New South Wales ladies produced some excellent and exciting play. Ladies’ Singles.—Mrs. Doyle (New South Wales) beat Miss Ward (New Zealand) 6—B, 6—2, 6 —2, Miss Wellwood (New Zealand) beat Miss Gardiner (New South Wales) 7— 5,_ 3—7, 8— 6; Miss Baker (New South Wales) beat Miss Powdrell (New Zealand), G—2, G—--3, Miss Nunnelly (New Zealand) beat Mrs. Colquhoun (New South Whies) 6 0, 6—2, Miss Jones (New South Wales) beat Miss Grav (New Zealand) 6—l, 9 Miss Lee (New South Whies), G—l, 6 0.
