Two Russian battalions and a company with a battery of quicldtrers have started for Tabriz. M. Isvolsky, Minister for foreign Affairs, in a note to the Powers, explains that the expedition is restricted to measures for the relief and protection of the Consulates <5 foreigners. Two sotnias- of Cossacks are marching on Tabriz. A company of the Russian frontier guard has occupied the Persian town of Julia. otheft Russian troops are marching from-Tifiis. The Shall, after negotiating with the liesieged, consented to an indefinite prolongation of the armistice. Both Nationalists and Royalists are profoundly uneasy at Russian intervention.
