ELECTION NOTICES. BOROUGH OF GISBORNE. TO THE BURGESSES. T ADIEvS AND GENTLEMEN, JLJ 1. With much pleasure I have ac■ceeded to tho request contained in the ■requisition presented to mCj and havo been nominated for election to the Council. 2. I believe in building upon a sound fountfauon', and consider that tho cultivation of such a spirit as will lead to “pride of place” being foit concerning Gisborne is to be. encouraged, and whether elected or not, it will ever be my aim to urge upon you tho adoption of those means which tend to health of mind and body. Recreation is as necessary to good living as is work, and the promotion of beauty spots in and about tho town will not only increase our pride in Gisborne, but will exercise an influence for good upon the rising community in our midst. 3. The. health of the community should be preserved (a) by tho immediate carrying into effect of a drainage ■scheme. This matter must be imperatively demanded by you. Drainage schemes of much greater , magnitude than any yet proposed in Gisborne have been successfully carried out, and, although the absence of fall is a serious item, it is not an insurmountable obstacle. (b) By a more frequent 'cmoiva 1 of house refuse. 4. The safety arid comfort of residents should be. increased by tho placing of more lights in the streets, (particularly tho back ones), and by the adoption, concerning our reads, of those methods which havo brought the streets of tho cities of the Dominion up to their present standard. 5. I have the welfare of Gisborne, and the well-being of its residents, at heart. I am allied or bound to no party. Yours Faithfully, JAMES ROBERT KIRK. PUBLIC NOTICES. PLEASE NOTE. C< EL LINO OFF at J.
